Throughout history, kneeling has been done for a multitude of reasons. Many people recognize keeling to perform an act of worship to a higher power. Some have kneeled to pay respect to royalty, while others have kneeled down to ask for their soulmate's hand in marriage. Today, we have another purpose to add to the history books.
Colin Kaepernick, ex-NFL player turned activist has made his quiet protest for police brutality towards blacks into a global revolution. Despite not playing for 3 years (and counting), Nike invested in the Kaep’s brand and message to create societal change. Since his departure from the NFL, Kaep’s most commemorated uniform is the Black jersey with the white numbers.
Air Force 1 labs took that same energy and boldness to create a colorway identical to the jersey. Cotton insoles with a Black on Black leather exterior. A transitional Nike swoosh shifts from Black to White. Soles are white with black trim in the rear. Translucent rubber is crystal clear to human sight. Kaep’s jersey number 7 is tagged on the top shoelace socket, while his portrait is displayed on the heels.
