The unique history of the Timberland boot began back in 1952 when Nathan Swartz, a hardworking stitcher and gentleman from Boston, Massachusetts, owned part interest in the Abington Shoe Company. It was then that he developed the rich New England heritage flare of the Timberland Boot.

Timberland's brand has been rooted firmly in the rugged boot market since day one. The unique culture and product design is founded on their outdoor lifestyle—whether that’s wooded trails or city streets. Thanks to the urban fashion culture in the 1980s, Timberland grew from being a great outdoors/worker boot to a good at home in the city street boot. While staying committed to quality, the brand began to expand the collection to include boat shoes, backpacks, travel accessories, casual classics and apparel.
