Unboxed | Episode 9: Air Jordan Retro 1 OG 'Bred Toe'

"Buckle up. Sit tight. Don't run. Stay calm. Proceed with caution." These are all sound advices we must give when as we announce the release of, probably one of the most coveted pair of Jordans ever, the Air Jordan Retro 1 "Bred Toe."

'Bred Toe'

WHY SO POPULAR?

Let us take you back to where this color way and handsomely silhouette was first introduced. It was GOAT and Basketball legend Michael Jordan's rookie season where he donned a black-and-red sneaker against the league's "white only" policy. This shoe was banned by the NBA commissioner, causing MJ to be fined $5000 each game he wore them. Going against the grain, the rebellious superstar took a risk. This caused a stir of sneaker-obsessed emotion and everyone gravitated toward it. Besides its amazing backstory that won everyone's heart-- it' also a damn-good looking shoe. Despite its “OG” distinction, this is not an original colorway, but rather a combination of two styles first seen in 1985: “Bred” (short for black and red) and the “Black Toe.” As the name would suggest, the Nike AJ1 Bred Toe sports a red coloured toe box. A wings logo is stamped across the sidewall and iconic Nike branding features to the tongue. The crinkled leather looks seriously vintage in this classic mix of white, black and red. Michael Jordan’s first ever shoe remains his most popular – not surprising given that timeless aesthetic. The sticky red outsole keeps you glued to the ground when hooping but let's be honest here, no chance you'd be wearing these on the courts. Now a firm lifestyle favourite, these are best worn with some black jeans.
The Air Jordan Retro 1 OG High 'Bred Toe' (in Mens and Kids') is scheduled to release this Saturday, February 24th at 10AM.
