This Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Plays for the Cincinnati Reds

The Air Griffey Max 1 has been a mainstay in Nike’s sneaker-release schedule for years. Typically, the ‘90s training sneaker is brought back in its original colorways, most of which are inspired by the Seattle Mariners’ uniforms. However, that’s not the case with the brand’s latest Air Griffey Max release.

Set to land in late March, this upcoming colorway of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 pays homage to Griffey’s former team, the Cincinnati Reds. The sneaker features a “Pure Platinum” leather upper with bright “University Red” accents on the Swoosh logos, pull-tabs, and ankle straps.

The two-toned sneaker sits atop stark white midsole units made from soft foam – they house visible Max Air windows in the forefoot and heels. The Max Air units are highlighted by “University Red”–colored pods, and the sneaker’s rubber outsoles are done in that same hue.
