This DTLR x New Balance 2002R Is for “Lovers Only”

From its sandy shorelines to its mountainous peaks, Virginia has it all. And in addition to its picturesque geography, the state has been a key contributor to street culture. That’s why, for our latest outing with New Balance, we developed a sneaker that pays tribute to all the things we love about the Old Dominion.

The upcoming DTLR x New Balance 2002R “Lovers Only” is the last installment in our series of releases dedicated to the DMV area, with previous versions including the 990v4 “DMV” and the 992 “D.C.”

This take on the running-inspired model sports a breathable mesh base with classic grey and black suede overlays. Standout “N” insignias on the mid-panels show a split outline in a dual red-and-black scheme. It comes with two sets of laces – a cream set and a royal blue set.

The accenting colors are inspired by the many markers that bring life to the great state of Virginia. There are hits of blue taken from the state flag, yellow that represents the unending highway lines, and bold black-and-red blocking taken from the welcome sign that lets everyone know “Virginia is for lovers.”

This DTLR-exclusive colorway will be available on DTLR.com and DTLR stores on May 26th in men’s and kids’ sizing.
