There’s a New Nike Air Max Penny 1 Colorway Coming Soon

Penny Hardaway’s illustrious NBA career came to an end in 2007. Since his departure from the league, he’s used his vast knowledge of the game to mentor the younger generations of hoopers from his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. In 2012, Hardaway began coaching Lester Middle School’s basketball team alongside childhood friend Desmond Merriweather – the duo led the school to three-straight state championships.

In celebration of Hardaway’s time at Lester Middle School, Nike has cooked up a new colorway of the Air Max Penny 1, unofficially inspired by the team’s colors. The sneaker features a black nubuck upper with contrast piping. White foam runs from the sneaker’s midsoles to the quarter panels on the lateral sides, proudly displaying bright-yellow jewel Swoosh emblems. The team’s signature yellow hue also colors the “1 Cent” logos embroidered on the heels, the Swoosh embroidery on the tongues, and the pull tab’s piping.

The throwback basketball sneaker has a black foam midsole with sizeable Max Air units in the heels. Split white-and-black rubber outsoles tie everything together.

This new Nike Air Max Penny 1 colorway will be available on DTLR.com and at DTLR stores Tuesday, August 8th, in men’s sizes.
