The Nike Air Max Uptempo ’95 Returns in “Lakers” Colors

Later this month, Nike is bringing back a hardwood classic with a fresh twist in the form of the Air Max Uptempo '95 “Lakers.” This iconic silhouette gets a Los Angeles–inspired makeover that pays tribute to one of the most legendary teams in basketball history.

Originally released in the mid-'90s, the Air Max Uptempo '95 was the first basketball shoe to feature full-length visible Air cushioning. It quickly gained a reputation on the court for its bold design and performance-ready build, becoming a go-to sneaker for players with power and presence. Now, nearly three decades later, the Uptempo returns with an energy that feels as fresh as it did in its prime.

The upper is dressed in white leather and features “Amarillo” nubuck mudguards that wrap around the sneaker from toe to heel. The lateral quarter-panel Swoosh overlays are also done in the bright yellow tone and outlined in “Court Purple,” channeling the unmistakable vibe of the L.A. Lakers.

Down below, the sneaker boasts white foam midsole units, which house the sneaker’s visible Max Air cushioning system. Matching rubber outsoles complete the look.

Will you be looking to grab a pair? The Nike Air Max Uptempo '95 "Lakers" will be available in men's sizes on Friday, April 25th, both in-store and online at DTLR.com.
