While waiting for the NBA season to restart in a giant bubble, we had a documentary series to feed our growing appetite for basketball. ESPN’s ‘30 for 30’ production of “The Last Dance” captivated life long fans and newcomers who love the Chicago Bulls. During the team’s second 3-peat, Michael Jordan created some hardwood classics all season long while wearing the Air Jordan 14’s. Universally nicknamed “The Last Shot” in congruence with “The Last Dance” titled season, the shoe literally has an iconic history of its own.
This history consists of a long lineage of colorways that have graced the culture in the past. Other than the “The Last Shot” colorway that made the silhouette famous, a few others paved the way for this upcoming release. Past Brand Jordan drops like “UNC” and “Deep Forest” are clear visuals that set the stage for the “Hyper Royal” to watch the throne. The upper is laced in leather, with additional panels for a smooth touch and overall finish. The tumbled base has the official Jumpman emblem providing a stamp of approval. The further flight is spotted on the tongue, toe box, sock liner, and sole unit. Black and bold ‘23’ outlined on the lateral heel. Last but not least, the energized hue of “Hyper Royal” has a matte finish that glosses the mid-foot, unlike any other carbon fiber can.
