The Air Jordan 5 “Halloween” Comes Alive After Dark

With teeth already built into its midsole, the Air Jordan 5 was practically born for a horror cameo.

This October, it gets the starring role. The Air Jordan 5 Retro “Halloween” brings black nubuck, “Picante Red” accents, and an eerie glow to a silhouette that has never needed much help looking intimidating.

Rich nubuck covers the upper, with matching laces, eyelets, and side netting keeping the mood suitably dark. “Picante Red” cuts across the midsole’s jagged teeth, where black speckles add another layer of detail. It’s a sharp flash of color against all that black, like the warning light in a movie scene where someone should definitely turn around.

The design saves a special effect for after dark, when its luminous details make their entrance. There’s plenty to inspect in daylight, too. Under the Halloween treatment, the AJ5’s 1990 roots remain easy to spot. The raised collar, lace locks, and netted panels preserve its recognizable shape, while Air cushioning in the heel and forefoot adds comfort for whatever the evening has planned.
