Rolling Into Summer: DTLR and PUMA Celebrate World Bike Day with a Bike Giveaway and Custom Kicks in Indiana

On Saturday, June 1st, DTLR and PUMA teamed up to kick off summer the right way — with bikes, beats, and bold style — at Southlake Mall in Merrillville, Indiana.

Just ahead of World Bike Day (June 3rd), this activation was all about celebrating the end of the school year and encouraging youth to stay active, engaged, and moving in a positive direction throughout the summer.

120 Bikes. 120 Helmets. Unlimited Impact.

The highlight of the event? A donation of 120 brand-new bikes and helmets to local children who came out to participate — all distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. For many of these kids, it wasn’t just a bike; it was a symbol of freedom, fun, and a summer filled with possibility.

The joy was infectious. Kids picked out their bikes, grabbed their helmets, and were off to the races — rolling out with smiles from ear to ear.

A Community Celebration, Powered by Purpose

While the bike giveaway brought the energy outside, inside the DTLR store, customers had a chance to win bikes of their own through a raffle giveaway — no purchase necessary, just community appreciation at its finest.

Adding to the excitement, PUMA put the spotlight on their iconic GV Special sneaker during the event. Shoppers who picked up a pair of the GV Specials at the Southlake Mall DTLR were treated to free custom artwork on their kicks, done live and on-site by renowned local artist Dre the Shoe God.

The result? One-of-a-kind sneakers that reflected the style and spirit of Indiana’s sneakerheads — bold, fresh, and full of personality.
