Show Your School Colors: Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG “Howard”
The upcoming Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG “Howard” brings Bison identity to one of Jordan Brand’s foundational silhouettes.
At Howard University, school colors carry generations of pride. They connect students, alumni, and supporters to an institution whose influence reaches far beyond athletics. The upcoming Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG “Howard” puts that connection front and center, bringing Bison identity to one of Jordan Brand’s foundational silhouettes.
Howard and Jordan Brand announced their 20-year partnership in 2022, outlining a shared commitment to expanding opportunities for students and elevating the university’s athletic programs. The relationship also recognizes the impact of HBCUs on sports and culture, with ambitions that extend from competition to the classroom. This release gives that connection a visible expression through Howard’s colors and unmistakable branding.
“College Navy” sets the foundation, covering the upper in a deep shade with a subtle sheen. “University Red” Swooshes stand out along the sides, framed by pronounced white stitching that recalls the embroidered patches on collegiate gear. A white midsole adds contrast underneath, while navy laces and a matching outsole keep the palette cohesive.
The strongest storytelling happens in the smaller details. Howard Bison embroidery takes over one heel, sharing space with the Air Jordan Wings logo on the opposite shoe. Red insoles feature Howard and “The Mecca” graphics, making the university’s identity part of the design inside and out. Traditional Nike Air tongue labels connect those school-specific touches to the model’s basketball roots.
For Bison students, longtime alumni, and fans cheering from afar, those details offer a familiar point of connection. Together, they turn a recognizable Jordan silhouette into a celebration of the community behind the colors.
