Set To Drop: New Balance 327 'White Gum'

Nothing new under the sun. So much so, that a psychedelic influence of the ’70s has been showing in NB’s latest release. Since the brand takes pride in providing comfort with everyday lifestyle in mind, they’ve looked to the past to bless our present. The unexpected blast from the past looked to retro runners to build out its groovy silhouette. The reception has been welcoming, with sold-out colorways under its belt. Seems like millennials of today love the far-out vibes of the 1970s.

Behind the Design

New Balance decided to release the anticipated “White Gum” colorway that is truly self-explanatory. The low top design is predominantly premium White leather throughout the overall sneaker. The look of the shoe is modest with universal appeal. The White quarter has the largely printed ‘N’ across its outer eyestays. On the opposite side of the quarter is ‘new balance’ casually placed on the corner. An added layer of suede for the eyestays, heel notch, heel stabilizer, perforation vents, toe tip, and mudguard is an old school touch. Flat face laces come with the shoe. Immediately underneath is the chunky midsole for additional comfort. This comfort level was reached due to the double-stacked foam used for the midsole. Right below is the rubber outsole equipped with cool vintage nubs. The rubber cleats make an eye-catching appearance on the modest runner outsole. Nylon on the tongue and tag simply signifies what New Balance is all about, that’s always been the union between lifestyle and exercise.

The New Balance 327 'White Gum' will be available in-stores and online Saturday, October 3rd at DTLR.com
