Set to Drop: Air Jordan 5 Retro SE "Oregon"Published:

Oregon University is where it all began for Blue Ribbon Sports (AKA Nike) and it’s still one of Nike’s flagship Universities. As an athlete at Oregon, there’s never a question as to if you’ll be decked out head to toe in Ducks gear produced by one of the greatest athletic shoe and apparel companies of all time, especially when it comes to the basketball team. The men’s basketball team is known for stepping onto the court proudly wearing loud uniforms and matching sneakers, including pairs that are extremely similar to the Air Jordan 5 “Oregon” retro hitting stores September 12, 2020.
The latest Air Jordan 5 Retro is almost a complete replica of the school’s “Player Exclusive” pair minus a few small details that I’ll cover in this blog. The entire uppers are drenched in Apple Green suede that gives this pair a nice, rich feeling. One of the differences between the Oregan PE and this release is the use of Black rubber mesh on the lateral side of each sneaker along with Black lace holders which are Grey and Green respectively on the PEs. The tongue at first glance looks Black, but if you look closer, it’s actually constructed out of 3M reflective material and features a stealth Jumpman logo in Black instead of the Oregan Duck mascot. Flip the tongue over and you’ll find “ELEVATE” stitched into each sneaker. A small detail that I feel really enhances the elegance of this pair is the woven, almost carbon fiber-like sock liner. To me, it gives the shoe a more premium feel when the small details aren’t overlooked. On the back of the shoe, you won’t find the standard Jumpman or even Nike Air, but instead, a sewn-in tag that reads “Quality products inspired by the greatest player ever”. Even Nike agrees Jordan is the GOAT. Don’t @ me. The Black midsoles atop icy outsoles complete the pair.
While they aren’t completely the same as the pair you’d be handed playing for Oregon, they’re about as close as you’re going to get unless of course, you shell out several thousand dollars for a legit PE pair or your name is printed in Oregon’s basketball home game program. My money is on the pair dropping September 12th in our stores being your best bet at a pair.
