Set to Drop: Air Jordan Retro 11 'Concord'

I remember exactly where I was when I first saw them in person. The year was 1995 and my childhood friend was strutting down the aisle of our Junior High school bus the day after their release. He was grinning ear to ear, and why wouldn’t he be? He was one of the lucky ones whose parents gave the OK on the purchase. I couldn’t take my eyes off of them after he sat down next to me. The details of this shoe were amazing. The patent leather alone was enough to be a neck breaker (an old school term used when a shoe made someone’s head turn so fast that it broke their neck). Of course, I’m talking about the Air Jordan 11. Otherwise known as “the shoe that changed the game”.
The Air Jordan 11 low is back in an all-new colorway known as the “concord sketch” which pays homage to one of Tinker Hatfield’s original sketches of the iconic shoe. Fun fact, if you take the original Concord 11 colorway, cut it down to a low top, and replace black with blue patent, you’ve got the “concord sketch” colorway. One of the only differences between the two is only found when you turn them over and look at the soles. While this is a simple explanation of the shoe, let’s dive a little deeper into the details of this release.
Behind the Design
The uppers are built from White leather-trimmed in black around the topline. White nylon lace holders overlay the uppers and extend vertically above the glossy blue patent leather. White leather is also used on the tongue and features the same tag with the cryptic-looking font as the OG’s. Decoded, the tag reads “JUMPMAN JORDAN”. The iconic icy gum soles feature black tread instead of the blue that’s found on the originals. Altogether the Concord Sketches are a beautiful rendition of the classic Concords. While these are only available in women sizing, guys all you need to do is size up 1.5 sizes and you’ll be good to go.
