Reebok Brings Back OG Vibes with the Answer IV 20th Anniversary

A day in the life of Allen Iverson back in 2000 might’ve been the most electrifying time to witness. A.I’s engrained fashion sense culturally shifted the paradigm of the National Basketball Association. While the NBA was infuriated with his personal choice of zig-zag cornrows, tattoos, and baggy clothes, fans and players alike were utterly amazed. By the time the Answer 4’s were scheduled to drop, Allen’s influence caused controversy which in turn built the anticipation for the sneaker. From league fines to a rumored gangster rap album under the alias “Jewelz”, everyone wanted to know what in the world will he do next?

To represent while responding to critics, Reebok released a full-length commercial for Answer 4. Throughout the commercial, Iverson showed him going from location to location seeing himself. This inner and out-of-body experience starts with Iverson shooting a fallen jumper, to also catch himself in the crowd. After the game ended, he then started walking down the street with a young lady cozy under his arm. As he noticed himself getting mugged by a guy in a drop-top Bentley, it ended up being himself with the same young lady (now fresh to death). The Bentley continues to roll up to a nightclub that has a long line extended down the block. In A.I. fashion, he skips the front of the line with himself as the bouncer opened the velvet rope. As he walks into the club with all eyes on him, “Jewelz” makes an appearance on stage performing and partying.

Twenty years later, the re-release of the Answer IV is making long-awaited waves once again. The “OG” colorway and details are special, as they are pulled from the pair Iverson wore during his MVP 2000-2001 season. Atop is a zip shroud leather upper that covers a lacing system unlike any other. Insulated within lies Allen Iverson’s printed sock liner for comfortable grip. Curvaceous in style, the sleek midsole has shock absorption DMX foam inside. Sections of White and Flash Red go from the upper down to the toe box. Solid Grey builds out the rubber outsole with the legendary ‘I3’ design making the shoe official.

The Reebok Answer IV OG 20th Anniversary releases on Thursday, April 15, 2021, and retails for $130 online only at DTRL.com.
