Introducing the New Balance 990V5 “Blue Crab”
Published:December 02, 2020
Back in the late 1980s, the Maryland Blue Crab became the State Crustacean respectively. For good reason, since the state of Maryland is notorious for the stellar seafood, especially the Blue Crab. With New Balance having such a large base of avid fans living in MD, they’ve designed this model of the 990 to celebrate Maryland’s beloved animal.
NB pulled all of the stops to ensure that the color scheme, in fact, resembles a Blue Crab which is pretty cool. The knitted mesh and suede upper have an assortment of blue’s similar to the shell/arms of the crab. The light blue mesh toe box gives the shoe room to breathe for open space color-wise, and for your toes to breathe. The durable endcap sole at the heel has a strip of Navy Blue that crosses between the White midsole. Hints of Black in the lining, heel, and outsole provides cool contrast. I cannot forget the Red accents on the heel role and outlined around the reflective ‘N’ logo respectively.
