Backpacks, Beats & Big Heart: DTLR and Gervonta “Tank” Davis Team Up to Give Back in Baltimore

As the summer winds down and back-to-school season gears up, DTLR hit the streets of Baltimore with a mission: to make sure local students head into the new school year prepared, confident, and supported. And this time, we had a hometown champion by our side.

On Wednesday, August 14th, DTLR proudly partnered with Baltimore native and world champion boxer Gervonta “Tank” Davis and his GTD Cares Foundation for a powerful community giveback — and the energy was nothing short of electric.

Together, we gave away 1,000 backpacks filled with school essentials to children and families in need at the Robert C. Marshall Rec Center, right in the heart of West Baltimore.

A Knockout Day for the Community

From 3 to 6 p.m., the rec center transformed into a true community celebration. Music bumped, kids danced, families connected, and the spirit of giving was on full display. Alongside the backpack giveaway, the event featured free food, live music, prizes, games, and more — turning what could’ve been a simple drop-off into a block-party-style experience that reminded everyone what Baltimore is all about: resilience, love, and togetherness.

For many of the students who attended, this wasn’t just about getting a new backpack — it was about being seen, supported, and encouraged. A simple backpack can make a world of difference on the first day of school. It’s a symbol of readiness. Of dignity. Of hope.
