Air Jordan 4 Retro “Infrared”

With sneaker architect Tinker Hatfield at the helm, Nike launched Michael Jordan’s fourth signature sneaker back in 1989. The original lineup consisted of four colorways – “White Cement,” “Bred,” “Fire Red,” and “Military Blue” – which have since become all-time classics in the brand’s storied catalog.

Hatfield contributed countless silhouettes to Jordan’s signature line throughout the years, but that wasn’t all he worked on. He’s also revered for his groundbreaking work on Nike’s Air Max series, to which he contributed designs and iconic colorways for the Air Max 1 and Air Max 90, among others.

Now, in 2022, both of Tinker’s brainchildren come together with the upcoming release of the Air Jordan 4 “Infrared.”

Based on the popular Air Max 90 colorway of the same name, this new take on the Air Jordan 4 comes dressed in dark grey nubuck, which covers the majority of the upper. From there, light grey nubuck mudguards shroud the toe boxes, while stark black hits come in the form of side-panel TPU wings and TPU-mesh netting.

The release gets its nickname due to the bright “Infrared” hue that colors the TPU eyestays, Jumpman-branded tongue tab, and tongue lining. It brightens up the brooding base with a distinctly ‘90s feel.

Moving towards the bottom, you’ll find split white-and-black foam midsoles, which display visible Max Air units in the heels. It’s capped off with bright white rubber outsoles.
